Project 365: Day 17

Pulling faces, originally uploaded by Heidi Meintjes.
Lately, when I point the camera in Kayli's direction she pulls all sorts of funny faces. Jaclynn also used to do it and it is soooo cute!

Project 365: Day 16

Sunshine after the rain, originally uploaded by Heidi Meintjes.
Sunshine after the rain

The kids enjoyed the bit of sunshine we had this afternoon, they were riding through the water with their bicycles looking at their reflections in the water. Unfortunately after this shot the camera battery died and I missed most of the fun!

Project365: Day 13

During our visit to Mpumulanga, we spent the day driving around Nelspruit, Sabie, Pilgrim's Rest and surrounds. We wanted to visit some of the waterfalls, the Potholes, God's Window, and the Three Rondawels. Unfortunately we could not visit God's Window and the potholes, as it was the day after Christmas and extremely busy and we just could not face those crowds. The Three Rondawels area was quiet though, and we spent a while there taking in the breathtaking nature. I was quite surprised to find Proteas there, I always thought we only found Proteas in the Cape (never too old to learn, hey?).

Another photo from our visit to the dinosaur park in Mpumulanga near the Sudwala caves. This is Jaclynn next to a Pristerognatus (whatever that might be?). She absolutely enjoyed the visit as she has learnt quite a lot about dinosaurs in the playschool she attended last year, and she was quite proud of the fact that she could tell us a few things about dinosaurs.

During our holidays (December 2009), we visited the Sudwala caves in Mpumulanga, near Nelspruit. Right next to the caves is a dinosaur park with actual size concrete models of dinosaurs. This is a stone inscription close to the entrance to the park, which I found quite funny...

Another photo showing the gloomy weather. Here we were on the way to the office, and it was really dark and depressing out there. Depressing for other people though, because I love this weather! I don't love the traffic mess caused by the weather and I also don't like the flooding, but mostly I love overcast, rainy weather!

I took this photo of Kayli in December 2009 on the farm in the Free State. We were sitting under a lapa and the light was so perfect that I could not help myself and I took about 20 photos of Kayli and this doggy. I did not process this photo at all, only resized and sharpened. (shows what a difference good lighting can make!).

On this photo Kayli almost looks like a baby again, I miss the huggable little baby bodies, my girls are getting so big!

This was the view from our house on Monday 18 January. At the back where the clouds are hanging so low, would normally be a hill, but for the past week we have not seen it, it has been raining so much.

Project365: Day 5

On 15 and 16 January our project team had a conference at the beatiful Hakuna Matata in Muldersdrift. We started at 08h30 on the Friday morning and worked right through until after 18h00. Only then did we check in and go to our rooms. I was pleasantly surprised, the room was absolutely stunning, totally different in so many ways but it's the kind of room I would want to book when Jacques and I go away without the kids for an anniversary or getaway.

The room is very secluded with a private area before you get to the door, with hangmats where you can relax. The room is on two levels, on level one is a little lounge area with a fireplace and television (who would want to watch tv at this place anyway?), and a balcony looking out over a private little waterhole. It is really very private, there is no other buildings in this view and the waterhole is surrounded with plants. The bathroom with an inside as well as outside shower is also on this level. On the second level is the bedroom, basically there is only space for the bed but it is absolutely beautiful, complete with mosquito net and again a stunning view.

Everything is very earthy, concrete floors decorated with stones and very rough walls - it all helps to create an awesome atmosphere.

Even though I did not have a lot of time to spend in this room, I took everything in and even got up early on the Saturday just to be able to sit on the balcony and listen to the birds and take in the view (that after a very late night being beaten at poker!).

I have a few more photos, which I will post over the next few entries.

Jaclynn grade 0 - another one

Jaclynn grade 0, originally uploaded by Heidi Meintjes.
Just another one because I can - awww my darling, mommy is sooo proud of you!!! Love you lots! ♥♥♥

Jaclynn did not even cry when we left her at school. She only knew 2 boys out of all the many kids, and no-one in her class (blue class). But that did not phase her. No, she politely asked us to please leave (probably because we were interfering with her socialising). Made my heart feel all warm and fuzzy...

Jaclynn went to grade 0 today!!! I can't believe how time flies - in my mind she's still my little baby and she'll probably always be!

I have no idea why the two are looking so depressed, on the other photos of Jaclynn alone she's smiling! (Maybe because they know they are going to miss each other).

Project 365: Day 2

IMG_3639 day2, originally uploaded by Heidi Meintjes.

I loved this tree. It had so much character, it suited the mood of the day perfectly.

I found this tree at the "Three rondawels" lookout, and I just had to take a photo. It was the day after Christmas and it was overcast and every now and then the rain came pouring down.

Project 365: Day 1

IMG_3696, originally uploaded by Heidi Meintjes.

I heard about project 365 from a few sources, and got so excited about it that I'm going to give it a go. Let's see where it takes us!

My first photo is one I took during our holiday in Mpumulanga this past December. I might post a few of the photos I took during this holiday as I work through them, so please be patient! :-)

This one I took on the way up to the bridal veil waterfall (close to Sabie). I've been to this waterfall years ago, but I cannot remember the steep climb to get to the waterfall, it took us a good few minutes to get there, just to find the rain starting to fall so we could not even spend a few minutes taking in the breathtaking view.

I loved the colours on this photo as well as the way the light frames the leaves and the bokeh in the background.
